BAVLI GmbH has, on behalf of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL), set up a new online portal to list the companies which are authorised, according to EC Directive No. 853/2004, to process foods of animal origin and bring these onto the market. Furthermore, an independent portal was set up to enable the BVL to process this data.

The portal was lauched in August 2011 and replaced the previous version. The new portal provides a better overview and is easier to use than its predecessor, the so-called BTL database. It also makes it easier for the authorities to handle data.
